Moth-Heart Blooms Cyanotype Bandana

These one-of-a-kind sunprinted sweethearts are made to order. The Moth-Heart design is based on a polyphemus moth’s wings with the eyespots. This part of the wing allows the blue morpho to camouflage itself in foliage and appear like a mammalian predator (with those big eyespots!) so as to not get eaten. In this composition, you’ll also notice a bit of ethereal ambiance; using film negatives of my pictures of spider webs, I collaged tiny pebbles from Gichigamiing (Lake Superior) into the images. All floral and plant details were created from real plants found in my backyard, recycled from bouquets, or found while traveling in the Upper Peninsula.
